The Grad Guide

If you looking beyond undergrad into graduate schools, then you are going beyond the introduction to academics (and philosophy) into introduction to becoming a philosopher, science, and/or academic. The base of which is the PhD thesis. The PhD thesis is a construction of your philosophy. In your undergraduate work, you learn about other peoples theories and philosophies. In your graduate work, you learn how to construct your PhD thesis - which is the basis for your theory and/or philosophy.

  1. If you don't know about websites or the internet, use the undergrad study guide to learn.
  2. Further, if you don't know about iLibraries, use the undergrad study guide to learn
  3. vInstitute - your vInstitute is the intagration of your website and desktop (or network).
    1. Your website is the front door, the window through which people interact and see your institute
    2. Your desktop (or network) contains your iLibrary, your vOffice and anything else needed by your institute. This means you can start with your desktop and add systems (via a network) as needed.
  4. The physical location for your institute
    1. You can start as small as your bedroom in a house or apartment.
    2. However, it will grow and you need to budget about $1600/month for a 1400 sq.ft. facility with both a front door and a back door with garage door.
    3. A serious part of your graduate studies is looking for a physical location that will meet not only current needs but future needs as well.
    4. You'll need to develop a budget and a fiscal goal. This means that you will have to learn to manage your money (as study in economics and finance)
  5. Once you are comfortable with your vInstitute, and it clearly presents your PhD thesis - graduate school is over and you should declare your PhD thesis.
  6. Post this declaration on your website and in to the graduate yahoogroupgraduate yahoogroup.
